Saldes

Saldes is a small town of 265 inhabitants in the Catalan Pyrenees. Its location, at the edge of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, and just below the massif of Pedraforca (2.507m) offers a very iconic and well-known image of the Catalan Pyrenees. People from Saldes are concerned about many issues, and work together and coordinated in order to improve living conditions (that become very tough in winter season) and facilitate the establishment of new people in the municipality.

The municipality has been refurbishing up to 9 housing units to be offered for people that works in Saldes but is unable to find housing due to higher prices for second residences. Recently 3 of those have been granted to families under the condition of permanent living in Saldes.

Energy local community - Due to the dispersion of the towns that form the municipality of Saldes, the very poor orientation of the roofs, and also the need of the municipality to preserve its most precious asset (the mountain of Pedraforca, which is widely photographed), in a public consultation with all citizens, they all agreed that the best way to continue working on measures towards the energy transition was in a cooperative way, concentrating the photovoltaic panels on one point instead of doing it in each home. This way, it gained in efficiency and sustainability. In this model, every resident of Saldes has the chance to place their panels and produce your energy, simplifying and also making the tasks of installation and maintenance much more cheap.

Geolocalization for emergency services

Each isolated home in the region of Berguedà, has a plate that allows to geolocate all the isolated buildings by means of a code to which all the emergency bodies linked to the telephone 112, have access. To activate it, it's just necessary to enter the code number when calling the emergency services.

Under the name of Sigescat (Catalonia Emergency and Safety Geographical Information Systems), the aim is to speed up and optimize the arrival of emergency services and thus avoid misfortunes
